“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”

Roger Caras

Last fall, I had the honour of doing a celebration of life session for a most wonderful dog, Washburne, who had an aggressive form of cancer (#fuckCancer) and didn’t have much time left.

You would have never known anything was wrong with him if you didn’t go looking for the lump on his chest. He was the kindest, most playful, hysterically funny, GOOD BOY throughout our entire session. He is the *perfect* example of how amazing a Bully can be, and an absolute credit to that entire breed group.

The love he had for both of the kids was palpable, and Erin’s son added some welcomed comedic relief by refusing to participate unless he was able to have Mjölnir with him. Erin also owns Fancy Pants Pet Salon where she spends her days loving on and grooming all sizes and types of dogs, and Washburne is frequently working as the salon mascot and bully breed ambassador.

Watching the entire family dote over him (and each other), who have welcomed many MADACC alumni into their home over the years, was a beautiful thing to witness. I am so thankful that I got to meet such an incredible dog, got to give him some cuddles, and capture the absolute joy and love his family shared with him. 🐾💓🌈
